
Junek CDJR Triples Appraisals and Expands to New Markets with VINCUE
Junek CDJR is a single-rooftop Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership in Spearfish, South Dakota, owned and operated by fourth-generation dealer Ryan Junek. Sitting in the northern tip of the Black Hills, ten miles from Wyoming, 200 miles from the nearest auction, Ryan runs a lean team of 18 with decades of combined experience and a reputation built on showing up for his community every single day.
When Geography Becomes a Ceiling
For a rural dealer like Ryan, used car acquisition has always been a different game. With the nearest Manheim or ADESA six hours away in any direction, sending a car to auction meant one thing: losing money before the car even sold. For over a decade, Ryan avoided the auction almost entirely, sourcing used inventory exclusively from trades and curb purchases.
That strategy worked when new car volume was strong. When it wasn’t, the whole used operation stalled with it.
At the same time, the market data inside his existing tool kept pushing him further and further out for comparables. Appraising a 2024 Equinox and pulling results from 500 miles away, when six Chevy dealers sat within an hour’s drive, wasn’t giving Ryan’s team the confidence to make good calls. They needed cleaner, more local data. And they needed a way to make remote acquisition actually pencil.

Data That Actually Reflects Your Market
Ryan discovered VINCUE through his 20 group and went live in December 2023. From day one, two things stood out: the depth of local market data and the built-in transportation cost integration when sourcing from auction.
For the first time, Ryan could shop sales across the country from his desk, build a basket, bid or buy now, and see shipping costs factored directly into the deal, before he committed to anything. Cars from Las Vegas or Dallas that never would have made sense before suddenly penciled when the full landed cost was right there on screen.
The market data told an equally important story. Within the first week, the used car demand tab showed Ryan he only had 8 of the top 24 in-demand vehicles for his market on his lot, and he had just one F-150 when three were selling every day in his area. “What the heck are we doing here? You just have to start filling in those holes.”
VINCUE also gave Ryan’s sales team the tools to run appraisals confidently without pulling him away from the floor. Salespeople now walk the trade, take photos, and present data-backed numbers, with clear recon and pack built into the box so every objection has an answer before it becomes an argument.

Appraisal volume grew from 60 vehicles in January to 200 in July, a 233% increase in seven months
